Stockinette…I don’t dislike knitting it but lately I seem to be knitting miles and miles of stockinette and garter stitch. This is probably due to my love affair with yoke interest sweaters…the ones with some cables or lace patterning near the neck then the rest of the piece is stockinette. Usually these are either top-down or bottom-up seamless which makes it seem worse. (Really it’s not because pieced sweaters have the same number of stitches.) So I was a happy (k)nitter to get a bit of R & R in the form of the cable and rib edging on my just (k)nits for fun, Mr Bluejeans. I used the cable of my large cable stitch holder to make my provisional cast on and worked two repeats.
The pattern said to repeat the first four rows of the cable pattern across the edge. I questioned why Amy Swenson, the designer, would include 12 rows of instructions then only use 4. After reading this part of the pattern, I decided that, in my humble opinion, all 12 rows were needed to form a basketweave hem that will prevent it from “rolling up.”
My newest just (k)nits for fun is Little Luchador. I’m knitting him on US size 5 needles using Berroco Vintage and wool of unknown origin (probably Cascade 220) and I’m probably not going to have enough blue for his cape so will use red if necessary. I’d hoped to finish him last night but I had a sleep knitting attack.
The drummers have drummed on my 12 Stripes of Christmas socks. I’m using US size 0 needles and have started the cuff. I really want to finish these this week…please.(I have sock castonitis.)
Just (k)nits bound off is this week’s[ just (k)nits for others Maggie the Mama Owl #3 using Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted in Robot Overlord and US size 5 needles. I have 8 more to make.
Till next time, no frogs, no tinks, just (k)nits.
The sweater is beautiful. Love the color.
Thanks Missy’s Crafty Mess. I just noticed that this colorway is going to change significantly in different light sources.
