Because I said so…

If you’ve been following a while, you know that the Guinevere Socks have been patiently hibernating in the bottom of my knitting bag since late September or early October mainly because I wasn’t feeling the love for them. Once the commission piece is finished, I had planned to wake them up–NOT!!! Why? Because I said so! I’m still not in the mood to knit these. So I’m moving the East Gable shawlette and Irene Adler Shawl forward and moving the socks to the end of December–hopefully I’ll be in the mood then. I’ve been knitting a lot of stockinette and garter stitch projects lately and just feel the need to knit some lace. Yeah I know the Guineveres have cables but cables can be fiddly sometimes. (For my muggle friends, fiddly is a knitting term that means tedious–sort of.) Besides this is the year of happy knit-whatever-I-want knitting.

Speaking of my just (k)nits in progress project, Buttons Cardigan (aka commission project). 2013-11-25 16.00.07I’ve finished the cardigan using Berroco Vintage DK and US size 5 and 6 needles. I have to use a size larger for knitting the sleeves in the round as my purl gauge is looser than my knit.  I am now working on the hat. I had decided to make a modified Poppy. I  cast on this afternoon only to discover that I had gauge problems. I’ve made this hat before and had a terrible time getting one the right size for the child. I decided on my way to knit night to make a modified version of this (modified in that I’ll make the garter ridge band wider and will leave off the button “tab.” I hope to cast on tomorrow and hope tat this project will be just (k)nits bound off by tomorrow evening.

2013-11-23 23.20.16Bitsy-Bot is just (k)nits bound off now. This is knit from Cascade 220 on US size 5 needles. My new just (k)nits for others is Basic Bowling Pin Body which I’m calling BP Dude. Rebecca Danger organized 50 Yards of Fun by body style sections. The first project in each section is a basic body. I’m using GnomeAcres Squishy Gnome in Do Ewe Lurve Me? colorway and US size 5 needles. 2013-11-25 15.58.50I hope to have BP Dude finished by bedtime tonight. So tomorrow I’ll cast on Runty Raccoon in Cascade 220 and bits of Berroco Vintage. I panicked a bit about finishing these so increased the amount of love they were getting. I then realized that I hadn’t counted the finished ones and that I would be finished well before Christmas. I’m still giving them some extra love right now.

I may use Runty and East Gable as dangling carrots. I’m not feeling the love for embellishing and assembling Christmas stockings. No surprise there…this involves a tapestry needle and “sewing” which, while necessary, is not my favorite part of any project. I will have these finished by Monday for gifting.

This is Thanksgiving week in the US. I’m thankful for provision of my needs and for family, friends and pets. I hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day spent with family and friends. No shopping please…wait till Friday!

Till next time, Happy Thanksgiving, no frogs, no tinks, just (k)nits.
