The pattern’s in my size doesn’t mean I should wear it

I’ve pretty much let my knitting magazine subscriptions expire. I look at Interweave Knits and Vogue at the shop when they come in. If I see anything I think I can knit and wear, I buy it. Most of these magazines use slim models who look great in whatever piece they’re wearing. This doesn’t mean it’ll look good on a 60-something plus-size goddess. I weighed 90 pounds wet or less the first half of my life and still haven’t quite adjusted to being fluffy. I still think I look like those slim models until I pass a mirror (I try to avoid these). So I queue things sometimes that just won’t work for me. I now look at Ravelry pictures to see what other fluffies look like in a given project. I also have found several designers whose patterns work for me and that’s why every now and then I’ll re-purpose yarn. I would really like a Big Girl Knits magazine.

I’ve spent most of this week working in my stash doing some organizing and re-purposing. This re-purposing was more due to my finding pieces that I like better than the original selections.

I also received my Shakespeare in Lace Shawl selecton. I like the shawl pattern but will knit it with some stash yarn. The yarn is a shade of green that can be worn at Christmas time so I’ve decided that I’ll use it my knit Lalique. I’d already queued this with another yarn but I’ll make both.

I also signed up for a Through the Loops Mystery Shawl KAL so I could get the pattern at a special price. I have so stash yarn that will be matched with this pattern and queued. WendyKnits is also having a mystery KAL and I may sign up for that as well and match stash yarn to that.

I have finished the right front of Elizabeth and started on the back. I hope to finish the back tonight or tomorrow latest. I was a bit concerned about having enough yarn. I bought the yarn for this piece and had extra as I’m making smaller size than planned. I am at the point now where I can tell that I will have enough.

I also have worked a bit on the Aviatrix Hat. I may have to work on something else while waiting as the short rows don’t lend themselves to stop and start knitting.

Till next time, no frogs, no tinks, just knits.

Totally agree about the sweaters. The one I’m knitting now is similar to one I’ve bought so I hope I will like it once it is done, we’ll see.

I’ve signed up for Wendy’s KAL, if you do too we can compare.
